“Vintage” is a highly searched term on Shutterstock

Shutterstock, the paid-subscription image bank, is a publicly traded company that keeps up with the latest market trends in digital images. They have an interesting presentation about what people are looking for — and, by far, “Vintage” is a key search term. Hey, Shutterstock, we know! Although we’re a big fan of modern vector images and graphics, isn’t there something about capturing reality in the era before cameras? We think people emotionally connect with all the vintage artwork from the unsung artists who were dragged on boats or up into jungles, or just stayed back in the lab and tried to imagine what the live animal looked like. We particularly like the early images from when people first started looking into microscopes and drew the unidentified alien-like animules.
